Located at the Houli Forest Expo Site, An Eco-Friendly Home for Four has already received 5 international awards including the coveted 2019 iF Design Award in Germany, 2018 U.S. Architecture Master Prize Honorable Mention, 2018 London Design Awards Silver Award, 2018 New York Design Awards Silver Award, and 2018 International Design Awards (IDA) Bronze Award in the US. Furthermore, it has also been awarded the diamond class carbon footprint certification from LCBA (Low Carbon Building Alliance). Today (17th), the plaque unveiling ceremony for the awards received by An Eco-Friendly Home for Four was conducted by the City Hall. According to Deputy Mayor Bruce Linghu, the curatorial team has embodied environmental sustainability, circular economy, and living aesthetics in An Eco-Friendly Home for Four, offering feasible action plans to protect the Earth. He praised An Eco-Friendly Home for Four as the pride of Taiwan and the soul of the flora expo. Today's awards plaque unveiling ceremony at the An Eco-Friendly Home for Four saw the attendance of Deputy Mayor Linghu, An Eco-Friendly Home for Four curator Te-fu Liu, architect Chi-shen Chien, wall design and earthwork specialists Tai-hsien Li and Chung-jen Li, the designer of Culinary Garden, also the President of the Good Life Maker Ya-lei Feng, and LOHAS Farmer TW President Chien-wang Wu. Deputy Mayor Linghu commented that while we are faced with issues such as global climate change, environmental deterioration, and air pollution, An Eco-Friendly Home for Four's curatorial team has already embodied environmental sustainability, circular economy, and living aesthetics in the lives of the family of four. Loving Earth is not just a slogan anymore, as actionable solutions have been proposed, elevating Taichung flora expo to another level, making it the pride of Taiwan and the soul of the flora expo.Deputy Mayor Linghu pointed out that An Eco-Friendly Home for Four is a new sustainable building featuring all-wood construction and thermal insulating walls using agricultural wastes such as rice straws and wood chips. The building and various elements such as water, electricity, energy, food, flora, and fauna form a low carbon home and ecosystem that has won 5 international awards, a truly commendable and remarkable achievement. According to the City Hall, the planning concept of An Eco-Friendly Home for Four has incorporated the 5 elements of earth, water, wind, fire, and people into various construction materials, techniques, operating models and unique landscapes. For the program, curator Te-fu Liu has assembled nearly 10 industry-leading teams in sustainable design, natural architecture, organic agriculture, and visual design, as well as over 200 volunteers to participate in the construction process, guided tours, and design the Lishan lectures. Together, they have epitomized the spirit of the flora expo: Green, Nature, and People, serving as the perfect example of energy-saving and low carbon lifestyle in Taiwan, enabling the people to prepare against the challenges and threats of extreme weather.
