Taichung flora expo continues to attract visitors since its opening, and so far more than 6 million people have been to the expo sites. Mayor Brian Bowman of Canadian sister city Winnipeg visited the flora expo site today (30th), including The Sound of Blooming art installation, Discovery Pavilion, and Blossom Pavilion. He also sampled herbal tea at “An Eco-Friendly Home for Four”. Besides praising the friendliness of Taiwanese people and the tidiness of Taichung City, he was also impressed with the breathtaking beauty of Canada’s Lakeside Snow House at the World Garden.

Taichung became a sister city of Winnipeg in 1982, in order to deepen the bond between the 2 cities, Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman, Councilor John Orlikow, and Manager of Protocol Lisa Blake visited Taichung City Hall yesterday. Today, they visited the Houli Horse Ranch & Forest Expo Site accompanied by Houli Forest Expo Site Deputy Director Ching-hung Tsai.

According to Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman, Canada is blessed with abundant natural landscape, and the government has invested heavily in preserving the pristine ecological environment. He thanked Taichung City Hall for the invitation to visit the flora expo, allowing him to meet Taiwan’s unique natural, cultural and ecological environment, in turn facilitating future policy collaborations and interactions between the 2 cities.

The City Hall also thanked Brian Bowman for visiting Taichung to reinforce bilateral relations. Canada boasts astonishing ecological diversity and landscape, and Taichung City is eager to borrow from the country’s experience in environmental conservation policies, thereby endowing both cities with a more beautiful and brighter future.
